How Guardality Works: A Simple Guide

Updated October 2026

Guardality is a slim card that protects the contactless cards in your wallet. Here is how it works, in plain words.

In one line: slip it into your wallet next to your cards, and it blocks contactless scans of them. No batteries, no apps, no charging.

What contactless cards are

Many bank cards, IDs and transit cards can be read by tapping them on a reader. They use a radio signal called RFID or NFC, at a frequency of 13.56 MHz. Cards with the small wave symbol are contactless.

What Guardality does

Guardality creates an electronic shield of about 5 cm (2 inches) around itself. Contactless cards next to it in your wallet are shielded, so a reader cannot pick them up.

Key features

  • Thin: 1.1 mm, like a normal card.
  • No power needed: no batteries, charging or apps.
  • Tough: waterproof and tear-proof.
  • Long-lasting: made to last more than 3 years.
  • Covers many cards: credit and debit cards, IDs, transit cards, hotel keycards and passports kept next to it.

How to use it

  1. Slide Guardality into your wallet next to your cards.
  2. That is it: it works on its own.
  3. When you want to pay by tap, take that card out of the wallet.

One card instead of many sleeves

With sleeves, you need one for every card. With Guardality, one card protects the cards next to it. See Guardality vs RFID wallets and sleeves.
